Phillies Lose but Children Win
By Mark | November 5, 2009

Sorry for the influx in sports posts as of late! I just can’t help a few sneaking into this blog every now and then, especially during World Series season (Yay Yankees!).
Well, the other day I got to thinking. What happens to the losing team’s swag? Think about it, the MLB prints up shirts and hats proclaiming both teams to be the World Series champs prior to the final game. That way stores are sure to be stocked no matter who takes the title.
Unfortunately, up until this year the MLB threw misprinted shrits in the trash after the big game. They were destroyed immediately. What a waste of materials, right?
The good news is that World Vision jumped in and asked for donations from sports associations. The MLB agreed and now misprinted shirts are donated to impoverished children in third world countries.
So if your favorite team never took home the cup, rest easy knowing that someone in Indonesia thinks they did.
